Ebenezer Agetiba

Secretary
Oxford Ghana Society

Meet Ebenezer Agetiba — Nominee for Secretary

Ebenezer Agetiba is an MPhil candidate in Politics (Comparative Government) at the University of Oxford’s Department of Politics and International Relations, Somerville College. His academic and professional pursuits focus on advancing the political and social inclusion of marginalised groups, particularly people with disabilities, through research and teaching.

Ebenezer’s research interests include democracy, disability rights, voter behaviour, political representation, welfare and disability policies, and political accountability. As an AfOx/DPIR Scholar, his current work builds on a strong academic foundation — holding a Master of Science in African Studies from Oxford (as an AfOx Mastercard Foundation Scholar, 2022) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Ghana.

Beyond academia, Ebenezer is dedicated to mentorship and empowerment, having organised voluntary mentoring sessions for prospective disabled scholars aspiring to postgraduate study at world-class institutions.

Ebenezer’s Vision for the Society

“As a visually impaired student from a marginalised background and a passionate advocate for disability rights, inclusion and representation are not just values to me — they are lived principles.

As Secretary of our growing Ghanaian Student Society, my goal is to work closely with the executive team to position our society as a vibrant and visible force within Oxford’s student community. I will strive to ensure that our shared Ghanaian voice is actively recognised and valued in all university discussions and initiatives.

Together, I believe we can strengthen our presence and make a lasting impact across Oxford.”

Voice. Clarity. Vanguard.
